Matt is our Principal Counsellor and Director at Okay Counselling. He is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, and is registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Matt was awarded with a Bachelor in Social Work from the University of South Australia in 2008, along with a Diploma of Statutory Child Protection in 2010 from the Department for Families and Communities. He has also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Alcohol and Other Drugs (2001), and a Diploma in Youth Work (1999).
Matt has previously worked in Child Protective Services (DCP.) for nearly 20 years and has extensive experience working with children and adolescents. Due to the environment he was subject to working in, Matt was lucky enough to gain a great amount of knowledge in various areas of counselling, and he has encountered many different areas of concerns from his clients.
Although Matt has extensive experience working with children and adolescents, he works with people of all ages – including vast involvement in Employee Assistance Programs.
Matt primarily uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy when working with clients, however he also uses a variety of other evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Conflict-Resolution Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), just to name a few.
