The Employment Assistance Program (EAP) is a work-based program that is focused on resolving personal and work-based issues for employees, and family members of employees, of an organisation.
Having counsellors available for an employee’s family members is unique and extremely beneficial for both the employee and their loved one. Organisations will hire counsellors that will be available for their employees to utilize, whether that be on or off site. The available onsite, and offsite, counselling is a unique experience for employees as some organisations will often disregard their employee’s mental health.
There is a wide range of counsellors available through Employment Assistance Programs that are trained to support individuals and groups in a variety of way. There is a range of different counsellors with specialities in diverse areas, such as mental health, groupwork, nutrition, financial, legal and others.
These EAP sessions offer useful tools for managing the workplace that may not be available, or as practical, through outsourced counsellors. Having these resources greatly improves employee mental health and morale.
